Default Silver V50 R-Design Ambulance in Bury.

Just spotted a Silver V50 R-Design Ambulance in Bury. It looked great with the green and yellow reflective coverings on it but I wonder if they specifeid R-Design for a reason and not a base S model?

Yes but it adds about £2,000 to the list price over the base spec model. From what I've read about ex-police Volvo's they're usually base or "poverty" spec as some call it. So why spec R-Design for the ambulance? Hoping for better re-saleability or better handling?

Thats probably about right. R Designs will always sell better secondhand than base and also handle a bit better as well.

All emergancy services tend to buy more saleable versions these days, even down to colour, as the white ones were getting hard to shift.

Although I don't think all the Police ones are low spec, as the last one I was sat in (nothing serious honest) had full leather in it, was a really nice interior tbh.

And R-Design is the best, by a mile :P

Didnt you know there are 2 specs of Police car

1. Basic spec - for the real low class criminal
2. Top spec complete with leather/ rear seat TV DVD/champagne bar and individual air-con control - for real high class criminals

There are actually 3 specs: the third has all the toys and is known as a gaffer wagon, for the use of Chief Superintendents and such like. Those are the ones to go for - low mileage, high spec - but usually end up with their users alas.
