Default 2008 V70 Head Unit Swap/Upgrade???

Hi All....

Info seems a bit thin on the ground with this.....

My V70 has the basic (high performance) sound system, now that's all well & good for my rick astley cd's and catching up with the archers on radio 4...

.... But i really need hands free phone thingy stuff.

So can i simply replace the head unit with the 2nd hand out of a v70 bluetoothy one on ebay?
- i guess i have to change the facia (mine has the "my key" bit) and also the steering wheel (for phone buttons)

Has anyone done this ? is it even possible to swap head units from one car to another? - (as mine seems to know the vin!)

I have VIDA (when i fix the laptop) and have no issue messing with wiring

Any Ideas or suggestions welcome

Steve.

quite a few navigation devices will do handsfree if you are in the market for one . Volvo used to do a handsfree for your radio as an accessory . not sure if it still does .

These linked radios are coded to the car. On previous cars I had clone copies of their diagnostics systems and within these there was a means of coding the radio to the ECU. Doesn't VIDA/DICE enable you to do this? What do dealers do when they have to replace a radio?

They fit an exchange radio which has a blank memory then reload the original software with the matching original serial numbers

Mmmm... so,

What about changing eeproms / PCB ect from the original unit to a replacement 2nd hand one?
although an upgrade may be a bit of a stretch....

Need to get inside a few -

Anyone "had the back off" one - or servicing them?

Crack this one & there could be a vast market out there !!

Remember ETM on 99-01's

I keep my eye on these guys on Instagram. They do a great afternarket unit for the V50's etc. They're apparently working on an afternarket unit for the V70's.

I'd certainly be interested in an upgrade if one became available. The OEM one is cr*p in my opinion

Have a look at a Parrot MKi 9200 or Motorola TK30 for full BT phone and iPod integration but if it's just BT Music you want and the occasional phone call, get one of these. https://www.kitsound.co.uk/product/a...less-converter They are a properly awesome bit of kit, I have the previous MyJack in the Mercedes and in the 206 and it's great and a real bargain! I recommend them to everyone and I've never had anyone come back to me and be disappointed!

The aux plug was fitted to all P3's so for £15 your problem may be solved
