Data Usage

Hi all,

Apologies in advance for what will be a simple answer, well question split in two.....

Picking up a new Volvo, hopefully at the start of October and will get the 100gb free data usage.

I know its a bit of how long is a piece of string answer as depends if you use things like spotify etc but.......

How much usage is generally used and is there a feature on the car that tells you usage used and how this is amounted??

I have unlimited tethering so although i have a year before my 100gb will run out just wondering will there be any point in getting a sim after the year, after all is there any difference to internet sim in car vs tethering.

There is a data usage counter in sensus, I used 0.2gb downloading the latest GB/Ireland/Iceland map

Using Spotify, Tunein, downloading map updates, connected data and the weather app, I average about 1Gb per month.

Thanks for both replies, i'm very surprised how little usage is used.

Are maps updates once per year?

There are sometimes updates every month and then a gap of a couple months, before the next update.

I have unlimited data on my phone, but the 100GB sim is more convenient. I have used less than a gig in a month.
