Default V70 R-Design 2litre estate turbo.

Hi All, I've been offered the above at a good price but it has no roof rack fitted, which I would need. The channel strips I'm told by the owner remove & fittings are in place underneath? It seems the channels would have to be cut to suit. Does anyone have experience of doing this, or could advise correct procedure.
Any particular things to look for before buying?
Any advice would be welcome,
Thanks, Brian.

Buy either genuine or a reputed make of roof bars . My son bought some that when tightened down badly buckled the roof of the car . you shouldn't need to cut anything if you get a set of bars intended for that car.

Have you got a picture of the car? I wanted to do a little mod to my car but couldn't find the strips. If you really want the roof bars I have them on my car..... If we both agree and you wanted you could pay postage on both as a swap? Mine are silver that came with the car from factory

If the channels were designed to take roof bar fittings then they should be available from Volvo. Volvo may include the truncated channel fillers in the set. I believe that Volvo fittings are made by Thule but you need a set designed to fit your car and not a "universal" set. If Thule sell a set for the V70, I'd compare the price with the Volvo set and buy whichever suits you.

There are roof rails, which go along the roof in channels,( I believe the sockets are already in place,) and roof bars, which go across the roof fitted on the rails and can be square or "aero". (I have a spare set)
Which do you need?
The rails are usually factory fitted and volvo oe only.

The roof rails are factory fitted and would entail loosening the headlining in order to access the fittings. Not impossible but a faff.
There are load carriers that mount in the holes on the inside of the door openings.
