Default Anyone had a new back box on their D5 exhaust?

I'm looking to change mine in the hope that it'll cure the (worsening) resonance at some speeds on my low mileage 2008 V70 D5 auto. At £280, the dealer parts store volunteered that going to an exhaust centre (around £160 fitted) would be a better bet. I'd imagine that there may be some difference in longevity, but that's not really a major concern.

That said, the existing (original) box is in very good condition externally, as far as can be seen, so this is just to ask, before going ahead, whether anyone's experienced any drawbacks or knows of any?

Many thanks.

Are you sure its the back box thats causing the noise ? There are heat shields in that area and the mountings have a habit of corroding causing annnoying rattle at cirtain speeds. Both my V70 had in excess of 150 k and back boxes were fine , but both had to have the heat shields repaired.

Thank you - I'm not sure it's the back box and will look into that before deciding. It's more of a boominess than a rattle, but I imagine a high frequency rattle could sound like that.

Mine are still working. The car is a 2012, with 300000 km on the dial.

Mine is still good, 2008 V70 Summum D5 Manual with 200,000km. Just returned from Puglia after its second trip this year.
