Water ingress N/S footwell "V70 2012"
Hi All
Recently bought a 2012 V70 UK RHD and I noticed the windows misting up. I have read a number of threads on here regarding similar issues but most relate to earlier models and sunroofs which this doesn't have. I have, 1) Cleaned leaves away from inner wing area where water exits windscreen, water was pooling here (Been raining for a few days now Scottish Highlands) 2) Started removing carpet and water present but mainly in foam. No obvious ingress point noted yet 3) Dealer stated that new windscreen had been fitted recently, have given it gentle push with no sign of movement. 4) Had a look under plastic trim at base of windscreen (Battery compartment etc) nothing obvious in there unless I missed something?? 5) Still to find the AC drain pipe Any other points of interest would be great fully received, thanks in advance... |

You could try parking it on a slope, the nose facing downhill, then pouring water over the roof - you might see it where it's getting in.

Hi 40t
Thanks for the tip may try that one. In the meantime I'm taking it to windscreen fitter tomorrow hopefully... to double check the screen as I am no expert. After taking it for a drive tonight in the rain there were no obvious sings of fresh water but the padding below the glovebox wheel arch side did seem to be quite wet but not sure I rang this out in first place. Does your car ave a sunroof ? If it does then check if the drains are blocked. The drains exit at the rear and underneath the sills at the front wheel arch and an you should see water run out when tipped int sun ruff gutter. The drain is a small hole in the front corners of thr SR opening . a tube runs down behind the plastic screen trim then through A post and down to the outlet. These easily become blocked by silt etc. Dry out carpet and underfelt by packing news papes under them and changing daily. If you dont the cabin will start to smell.
If no sunroof then screen will be the culprit.

Windscreen checked by local windscreen replacement business and no faults found...
Just need to monitor for now. |
