So far so good.

Today it's getting the gearbox done will report back if there's any differences, it was banging into D from P and also into R the odd time, so hopefully that resolves rough selections. Also altenator belt and AUX belts and pulleys being done today, timing belt was already done.

I think its the 163 D3 not exactly sure yet ill ask the dealer but definitely feels like it's more powerful than 150. everything works as expected, booked in for a two stage exterior detail and ceramic coating also getting the interior blasted looking forward to that.

Confirmed to be the 150, very surprised by that as it does have a good bit of go. Gearbox does change better e.g. when approaching a corner it changes down way smoother overall no massive difference but it's preventative work.

Came back from the dealers with the following recommendions both cv joints leaking, both front wishbones need replacing, left rear shock leaking, very happy with that considering what I paid for the car and the mileage.

Anyone want to share better than OEM parts source dealer looking for 1k (euro) i paid 650 for last job. Going to go indy on the rest and have already been quotes half price.

Q question have bought an OEM replacement driveshaft, as there's a humming noise from the passanger side. I noticed there is a bit of a leak from the gearbox on the same side I'm not very mechanically minded but would it be a seal / gearbox bearing and would this be solved with the replacement shaft.

The car has done 67k miles since the last tb change, the Hanes manual recommended changing every 62.5k volvo is 120k.. should i change for peace of mind.

there is a seal where thrle drive shaft mates with the box. its pressed into the box. they cost peanuts. change with the shaft. 'drive shaft oil seal'

Any thoughts on the timing belt interval.

Just a quick note on life with the high mileage D3, mileage just past 214k miles the other day and so far mixed reports.

Maintenance wise hasn't been trouble free as I've replaced all tyres and got the tracking done, both driveshafts, and at the same time both front bearings L+R, as I couldn't find what was causing an issue, that was expensive... did the timing belt and water pump + coolant, gearbox oil replacement, two rear shocks and a full service using volvo parts, the air conditioning has stopped blowing cold air despite being refilled so thats going to have to be sorted, tbh I had funds allocated for the first years maintenance and it needed them, hopefully once the air con is sorted going forward it'll only require a service and consumables etc.

Actually she put up a gearbox code of P0895 when I was overtaking a truck obviously not happy with changing down, its been cleared by the OBD reader and hasn't reappeared and I have had a few spirited drives since, and shifts are really nice and smooth and no clunking or banging was surprised by that error.

5 cylinder noise from the engine is really nice, seats are super comfortable and its really quiet on the road, no issues with electrics, steering is perfect etc I ended up doing some courier work for the health service (PPE delivery etc) over the lockdown and it really came into its own on empty motorways, she can definitely move.

I think you made a good choice with this one, it spend it's whole life on the motorways - you can't get better than that, high miles but low stress on the engine.

Once you've got over those big repairs it should be easy to live with and just basic oil services for a good while. I'd say most cars need a big input of preventative maintenance every 100k miles.

If it was me I'd take this on as a challenge and aim for 250k miles, then 300k....

I clearly stated that it is a myth that the gearbox is sealed for life .

Is this not correct?

I also went on to say that sump dumps are my preferred method when changing the oil.

I am fully aware that they do recommend oil changes for taxis or if using the vehicle for towing but nonetheless you still hear the phrase " Volvo say it's sealed for life when this is clearly not the case.

Try not to be so aggressive when posting, you seem to make a habit of it and it's really not needed.
I re-read and apologise. I think that’s skim reading at work there unfortunatly.

Thanks.
