Software not updated during service - Dealer refusing - Page 2

Confusion between update (newer version of features already present) and upgrade (new featuress)?

As Mr Rusty, mine was done without asking as part of service on MY19 car.

Does the MY change whether the update / upgrade is undertaken?

Connected safety and the 'Ready' to icon are the only visible changes.

Just got my car back from having the wiper blades replaced, and the Stop/Start looked at and I asked for the October engine management and gearbox optimisation software upgrade. I was charged 70 odd quid, because it was outside of the normal service.

Can you expand on the gearbox optimisation software upgrade please. 10 days ago i was in my dealer asking about the safety software. It was a struggle to get the receptionists to acknowledge it's existance. Eventuially they found what I was talking about and I had it done on the spot (£75). I also asked if there was any gearbox software upgrades ( I had read there was) Met with total denial. I 'm rapidly losing cofidence in my local dealer or should I say the8r receptionists.

I believe the gearbox optimisation Software you refer to was a general software update in October 2018; so this should have been done in your nornal service update - meaning dealer may not have any knowledge of a specific gearbox optimisation software.......

Bummer, my car was service at the begining of September so I got the connected safety etc. but none of the engine optimisation etc.

I have had my V90 Inscription Pro since the end of Feb and have had 4 free software updates. The latest just last week. I now have the new icon for start stop and the connected safety feature plus all the other stuff they don’t explain.

It was updated to fix an issue with the left mirror not always returning to normal position after reversing and the camera sometimes blanking out.
