V70 doorlock - interior light/alarm failure
I have just purchased a 1998 V70SE and have an annoying intermittent problem when locking the car. Someimes the interior light goes out and the alarm sets, sometimes not. I have had to remove the door pillar bulb, footwell bulb and switch off the interior light incase it does not go out to save having a flat battery. I am told that there are problems with a microswitch in the lock but Volvo cannot supply one as they say it is part of the lock. Anyone found a way of fixing it please?
Thanks Graham |

had the same problem with mine, it was the tailgate lock at fault, remove it and give the micro switch inside the lock unit a good clean and lubrication with contact cleaner, hopefully that should solve the problem

RE: V70 doorlock - interior light/alarm failure
Our V70 ...P reg had a faulty door lock when brand new. Door kept flying open especially around corners. In one case it just missed another car. Volvo knew about the problem but as far as I know there wasnt a recall. The dealer could not get the new/improved unit fast enough and resorted to removing the locks from new cars. Worth checking history to see if lock was changed in the past or if you have the old faulty one. Nige

V70 - doorlock - Türschloss - micro switch repair
Hello,
I fixed it this way. I took the metal part from the rear panel repair kit from Skandix. Made a small angle bracket of it. The screw ist M2,5 size. Works very good. Regards Mats Last edited by Mats701; Apr 12th, 2020 at 21:25. |
