V70 TDI offside drive shaft
Does anyone know if the offside complete drive shaft for a 1998 TDI is the same on other models, as i have been looking on eBay, but the 1998 Tdi doesn't seem compatible with other models. Am i looking for a specialist part here? The car in question is also an automatic.

I can't give a definitive answer but this may help.
https://weblisher.textalk.se/gcp/20160203-036/ and navigate to page 536. It lists the part numbers for the various drive shafts for various models. Martin 1998 V70 Tdi Auto 227,000 miles |

From experience a lot of place will try to flog you a 2.5d drive shaft from a mk2 v70, they will physically fit, the splines are the same, but they are about 20mm longer so when the vehicle is on the ground the cvs bind up. It took me a while to find one specifically for my tdi. Andrew pages or europarts (whatever they are called now) and other factors don't seem any wiser either.
I believe tdi/2.5d are the same as the t5 and police spec due to the extra power+torque. I think I may have a thread on it somewhere with the part nos. Ill have a look. Ben https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=304846 just noticed yours in an auto - I 'think' they are the same fitment, but auto shafts have a vibration damper on them.
