Default Advice on Accident damaged S60

Hi just wondered i have a volvo s60 front damage that popped the air bags and drivers side headlight along with the fender, bumper and slight bonnet damage. have been offered it... is it worth repairing or better to salvage it.. it has 100k starts fine just the electrical circuit for airbags has shown on the dash.

seems ok drives ok though not legally on road i have just tested it on my drive.
i have looked after it well till the sad accident.

Please can you share the year, the variant, the overall condition prior to the accident, the quality of the service history etc.?

From your post, I'm uncertain as to whether it's your car that has been written off but that has also been offered to you by your insurance company, or whether someone else is offering you this car.

What's the story behind this car?

Also, do you have any assessment of the cost of repairs?

No I don’t think it’s worth it unfortunatly. If you want to do it properly you will need to go over it with a fine tooth comb.

The other thing you need to consider very very carefully is that air bags don’t generally deploy unless there are high forces so you may find damage you can’t see!

Agreed!

I'm sure that you would want to be safe - and reassured that the car was in perfect, roadworthy and legal condition.

Good point. I used to spend a fairly decent amount of time at scrap yards and only about 10% of the cars in there have activated the airbags, even where some modest damage has occurred (granted when stoved in they deploy).

I would be most concerned!

It all depends what category write off it is. Some have to be scrapped and others can be repaired. Whatever it is you will have problems re-insuring it as many will not touch writeoffs - resale value will be zero. I wouldn't touch it in all honesty.
