Default 2005 V70 2.5T SE 210BHP Petrol, Geartronic

For Sale:

2005 V70 2.5T SE 210BHP Petrol, 5 speed Auto Geartronic 72,700 miles.

Car first registered in March 2005 so benefits from the cheaper road tax.

‘Barrents Blue’ Metallic Paint.

This is an SE model so has full beige leather interior, cruise control etc.

The car has the ‘winter pack’ fitted including heated front seats & headlamp washers.

It is also fitted with built in Sat Nav, TV, Phone and child booster rear seats.

17" alloys with Uniroyal Rainsport 2 tyres 6mm fronts and 7mm rears.

The car was purchased by me in 2007 with 17,000 miles on the clock with full Volvo service history,
it has been maintained to the Volvo service schedule by me ever since,
I’ve kept a service record recording everything done to the car including bulb changes.

The gearbox fluid was changed and flushed at 51,800 miles
Front wishbones poly bushed at 54,400
New discs and pads all round at 72,500
The car is Mot’d until March 2013 and taxed until end June 2012

The car is only for sale as I’ve been forced to have a company car.

I’ve found it hard to value this car using autotrader etc., but think about £4500 is fair but open to sensible offers.

Car is located in Folkestone, Kent.

I’ve had a few questions sent to me so I thought I’d post the answers here.

Has the car got a towbar?
No a towbar is not fitted, the car has never been used for towing.

What is a child booster seat?
It’s a factory fit option, photo attached which I hope explains.

Any dents in the bodywork?
No none.

What’s the condition of the interior?
The car has mainly been used by me so the passenger seats have hardly been sat in so as new.
The driver’s seat shows the wear you would expect for the age and mileage, I’d say it was in good condition.

Has it got the 7 seat option?
No, but I guess one could be fitted.

Are you open to offers?
Yes, open to sensible offers.

Please feel free to post or contact me for any other questions, I’ve now got my new company car so this one is available from now.

Thanks for looking, Chris.

Could I ask board members for some advice?

This car is in excellent condition, but there is not much interest being shown.

Is it just market conditions?

Is the price too high?

Not enough info or photos?

In the wrong location?

Any thoughts welcome, thanks Chris.

Hi Chris,

Lovely car and everything right about it. Think the issue is ready cash...for a lot of people in todays climate. Caution rules and everyone wants a bargain as well. I want to step up from mine sometime, but no readies means its some way off, otherwise I'd snap it up.
Keep it posted up and on all the relevant forums. Someone, somewhere will snap it up.
Good luck,

Jon

The price is right although perhaps at the upper end for a private sale

It's a shame that we can't rewind the clock a month as 1 month ago I paid 5k for a clean, 1 owner, 2.4 170 SE, with fully history, winter pack, sunroof, and tax until Dec 2012 (worth a few quid in itself) on a March 2005 registration with a little more mileage from an independent dealer and I did get a 3 month warranty thrown in.

Having just bought I know that value is all over the place - it really does vary immensely depending on not just condition and age but also location by the look of it : I reckon your price is fair

For mine, I know that I paid top book for it but I was in a position where I had to buy something and buy it quickly (returning from working abroad and needed a vehicle quickly to avoid racking up hire charges).

Had I seen yours I reckon I'd probably have taken it in preference to mine although that's not to say that I'm not happy with what I paid and what I got for the money......so hang in there, I'm sure you'll get a bite

I think with the market conditions the price is too high.
Look at the online classifieds - I have not recently but back in November I was able to purchase a very nice ' 53 SE, charcoal interior, nautic blue, 170 bhp na (22-30mpg), 9m M.o.T., 6m ved, for only £1500. Perhaps I was very lucky but it is a lovely car and I did not need to travel far to find it.
At that time I surmised the absolute top end for an 8 yr old car, FROM A LEGIT. VOLVO DEALER, was £2.5k to £3k. A private sale will always be as much as 20% less. Dealers can offer warranties and peace of mind to nervous buyers.
When I bought mine there was almost no oil on the dipstick but I had a good look underneath and, as the car had obviously been standing for some time and I could not see any evidence of leaks, I was satisfied that taking a risk on that would be worthwhile for the price and I have not had any problems since.
Thus, in conclusion, the top end price would only be attainable by a Volvo dealer and a private sale must expect circa 20% lower than book price.
My suggestion is an advertised price of £3600 with an expectation of £3500.

If you watch 'Top Gear' you will see them buying 5 to 10 yr old cars, that cost £50 to £90k new, for as little as £6k!

I apologise for what may seem a rather negative view but remember that a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it!
