Rear door knob not always going down
Hi all,
Recently noticed that the locking knob on my rear passenger door does not always go fully down when I lock the car - it goes part of the way down, so you can still open the door - and set the alarm off! i have tried squirting some WD40 around the knob, so it seeps down to the actuating rod, etc. but hasn't made any difference. Any ideas? thx. |

Hi . The motors have failed in the door lock mechanism. You can strip and clean them or find replacement motors (two in each lock) on e-bay . It a really fiddly job Take lots of photos before and during taking apart but you can save a fair bit of cash if take the repair route. Its a fairly common problem with lots of cars now and replacement locks are available on e-bay. Not sure about Volvo locks though but do look as genuine locks are a bit expensive .
Just looked and pattern replacement Volvo locks are around £69 on e-bay. They are plug and play and dont need programming for normal key fob type .

If you want to do it yourself the rear doors are not too difficult.

You might find that there is a spring that is attached to the bit that goes up/down someplace and that comes adrift - that's from researching the same issue. I've got the motors, just got to do the work...
