S40 Bumper Reinforcement Bar
Having had the front end off the car to do work with ducting, grille and foglights, I now know why the bumper has never fitted well under the passenger headlight.
I knew the car had been bumped in that corner, and I have discovered that the reinforcing bar that the bumper sits on which bolts to the chassis, has been bent and straightened (not very well). Rather than try to repair this properly, I'm looking for a replacement item (undamaged). Also, if anyone has a complete unit, with the bumper attached, that would be even better. Bumper can be less marker lights, foglights, and lip spoiler. Primed or painted makes no odds, as it is for yellow car so will almost definitely require to be painted! Car is early 2000 w reg T4, so it's a phase 1 front end Cheers |

Does the T4 have a different bumper than the other models? There are a couple of 'normal' models in the breakers I use.
Paisley freight charge £25 for bumper delivery.

Unless someone else knows otherwise, I think that all bumpers are the same, just depends on year, rather than model?
It's not needed drastically, as nothing is going to fall off, but it has never fitted right and now that I know why, I might as well do it right, like all the other bits and pieces! Cheers |

To the best of my knowledge the only one that is different is the one used on the phase1 TurboDiesel with air-con as the air-con fan is to the front of the rad.

Cheers for that Baffler
What models are the ones that are at your local breakers, scottishvolvo? Going to try my two local scrappy's on Monday and see if they have anything (would have done it today or tomorrow, but been busy with Jim Clark Rally - spectating, nothing else....! Did get some weird looks when we drove through to find the best spot though, before the road was closed mind...!) As an aside, what is the consensus on a reasonable price to prep and paint a bumper? Cheers |

I'll find out but it will be Tuesday at the earliest. Working Sunday and they are closed on Monday. Last time I was in they had 4 or 5 to choose from......no yellow though, although I did see one today and if I was quick could get the bumper off..NOT. Sorry
A bloke at work had his rear bumper from his Mondeo done locally, I think it was in the region of £140. I'll ask on Tuesday.

Not bumper, but may be useful as a rough guide: I had to have a bonnet done fairly recently. Great local firm (bit far from you though) did a lovely job - cost £150.

Seem to confirm what I was thinking - round about £150...
Now I just need to find £150, still reeling after having to buy 3 tyres to replace the "as new" ones on my second hand alloys..... Ouch The joys |

New they may be and a good tyre, but after a light shower yesterday down near Duns, I was getting wheelspin. In 3rd gear. Slightly higher boost gives quite a difference...! Worth living with though
