Default Diesel injectors

Good morning, I have a Volvo V50 2007, with the 2 litre Diesel MW7541 engine, which I have been told is the Ford engine. My problem is that one of my injectors failed so I replaced it with a used scrappy unit, fitting it wasn't a problem but it wouldn't work in my car. So my question is; do the injectors have to be programmed into the engine management system and if so how do I go about it. I ensured that the Ohms resistance of the injector was similar to the other units and it came out of a Ford Mondeo,
