V50 18" Wheel replacement
Afternoon all, I have a v50 T5 with stupid 18" wheels. I am fed up of the poor ride quality and punctures I seem to get with these wheels. Anyone know if I can drop 16" wheels on from another V50 (Will the calipers fit behind etc)

302mm rotors or smaller are no problem. bear in mind, if your car is 18' from factory your speedo will be programmed to 18' wheels. If you have stability control etc it may sometimes go haywire if you switch to 16'and rolling diameter will differ too much.

16's won't interfere with stability control if you up the tyre sidewalk and keep the rolling radius the same, or similar.
I've just replaced my 17's with 16's as it was cheaper to buy a set of good condition used wheels and tyres than it was to buy one new wheel. Tyre profile has changed from 205/50 17 to 205/55 16 and no issues. I run 300mm discs, so can't comment if you have 320mm discs. |

What sort of tires do you have on your car and profile?
I had 18" Midir's on mine when I bought the car and the previous owner slapped on some budget tire's and the ride was hurrendous. Simply changing tires to the premiums made a massive difference in both ride comfort and grip.

Yeh would be safe and better for you to change the tires and get something different but more of a premium tire. Look for good ratings on sounds noise etc.
T5 will benefit better as you will most likely get wheel spin in wet conditions with budgets so its defenitly worth a try.

I found a guy out in East London who advertises part-worn tyres. Went over there because I had junk brands mixed with quality and lots of issues. he fixed me up with a pair of Continental winter tyres - part-worn, yes, ok: But only 5% worn! 80 quid the pair. I was staggered. Just driven to the alps and back on these and they were perfect!
