Hi I am new to voc, I have problems with my 2009 xc90 warning lights showing, suspect bcm is faulty, is it possible to drive the car whilst bcm is removed to be repaired.

It may be safe to a point but your insurance will be invalid so I'll say definitely don't do it.

You'd still be able to drive it, the brakes will still work, though ABS most likely would not function.
I have driven for a few days with the BCM not functioning. I had no choice then as I do not have a replacement car and needed the XC. Needless to say I drove like a granny for those few days ...

You don't need to drive like a granny.
You just need to know that the ABS is not working and drive accordingly, knowing so. My first 6 cars had no ABS:
I did not drive like a granny. I went around some corners sideways on gravel roads, locked up the brakes a lot when I wanted, did cool handbrake slides, laid rubber on the road when I could (with sub-hundred horsepower engines that wasn't often), and did a few emergency stops. All without crashing. The point is: ABS is simply an extra safety function You CAN drive without it if you understand that you do not have a working ABS system and simply drive accordingly, not getting into trouble, not locking up your wheels. And if you DO lock up your wheels, then know how to deal with it (human-powered leg-activated ABS works well, just simply not as good as electronically controlled hydraulic ABS).

As others have said, it is fine to drive with a faulty BCM, however be aware that your vehicle will not pass an MOT in that condition, so dont ignore it for too long.
Are you sure that the BCM is the problem? Your car is about the right age to have a broken ABS reluctor ring, which will throw up warning lights. New rings are cheap from GSF and can be fitted in about 45 minutes per side, so its worth checking them first.

I have the BCM--112 AYC-Sensors not calibrated. Has anyone ran the calibration via VIDA with success?
I have not yet done it as i need a truly flat surface i believe. |
