Air con not working on 850...

Hi,

The air con has packed up on my '95 850, can anyone advise what I should check first?

Please dont say my bank balance!!! :+

Can you be more specific?

Does it still work and is not effective, or just doesn't activate?

When you flick the switch the air temp doesn't change.

Lots of threads on this if you go for search - but in brief, you've almost certainly lost gas through a failed seal or cracked hose (cheapish) a damaged compressor (expensive) or a knackered evaporator (very expensive).

First stage is a diagnosis from a good air conditioning specialist (search again) and then a visit to Mr. Bank Manager.

Nothing much about air conditioning is cheap except re-gassing, and that's usually a symptom of something more expensive.

I've said this twice before, but searching the many threads about this will guide you and give you valuable clues to preventive maintenance.

I had the same probby on my V70.
My local Volvo dealer charged £70 or so for re-charging the system and all is now well.
Hope you get on alright.
