Default Preferred brake shoe material...?

Well guys, finished the gearbox+OD conversion and rear brakes rebuild and have found the front brake shoes will need replacing soon. Is there any census as to which front shoes give best stopping power? I'm a big fan of M1144 material for older cars[have used this for years and never fails]. Anyone recommend a good shoe [Brookhouse...?]

PS took Agatha for a good shakedown today, all the way to Brooklands for their 'aviation day'. It was very low on classic car and bike numbers but a good turn out of general public and some superb engine fore ups. Seven Tiger Moths on the airfield, three great early pre-war flying deckchairs and the superb Sopwith Camel. Though, as always, the very best was the firing up and driving of the sublime Napier-Railton. If any of you have yet to visit Brooklands there's always a great turn out for the Autumn Classic Breakfast.

Rgds
Andrew

Hi Andrew

I have fitted set from Brook house, think they were of Italian origin, seem to work fine.
1144 I thought was a competition material, but I could be wrong..you can get 1144 linings from B/house I think

Thanks Clive, I'll give Simon a call when back from a week's holiday. M1144 was originally designed fast road/mild competition material but it works straight from cold...and suffers very little fade, even when blatting down mountain side roads.

Yes mate used them for many years on my Gp4 Escort also used 1155s. Don't know about not needing warming up as they were warm by the time we got to the start line and on forest stages we never used the brakes that much....so so my co- driver complained :-)
