New Member - Hi - P1800ES
Expecting delivery tomorrow of a total restoration project P1800ES in Gold.
Car appears to be complete and original apart from several resprays - so whats lurking beneath is yet to be revealed, though magnet test didn't reveal too many surprises so far. I've restored and still own a 1969 Lotus Europa S2 and a 1982 Land Rover Series 3. Ready for a new project and always liked the P1800ES - not everyone's taste, but neither is a Europa - Why follow the crowd! First of many questions:
Looking forward to my new project and the learning/new knowledge it will bring. |

Welcome,
Parts suppliers: Brookhouse Volvo, CVI VP Autoparts There are others, Internet search for "classic Volvo parts", or "Volvo P1800 Parts" will reveal. Brookhouse can supply most of what you might need. Documentation is available on website link below. You'll also find a DJet fuel injection troubleshooting guide there. http://www.volvo1800pictures.com Your future posts/questions would be more appropriately posted in the "PV, 120 (Amazon), 1800 General" section of the forum, unless you are looking for specific parts, etc. Not everyone reads the Sales section. All the best.
There are new parts available but not all and are quite expensive now. Some repo parts aren't great and even Volvo parts will need adjusting to fit. Good used parts are out there but also expensive. Build quality wasn't that great from new and the car is welded together so not the easiest car to do. Fully strip the car and you'll find the rust areas, if not much rust you have scored a good one! You can get documentation online here: http://volvo1800pictures.com/

Welcome to the forum and 1800ES ownership.
As others have said, parts supply isn't too bad and Simon at Brookhouse is a great source of knowledge and parts. The D Jet Bosch fuel injection system is fairly simple but parts can be difficult as some are now obsolete and used ones can be expensive if you can track them down. Good luck with your restoration, panels are available (expensive) although most chassis and substructure components can be fabricated from sheet steel without much difficulty. The forum general section for 1800 has many expert followers and they will be only too pleased to help you out with answers as you go along, the rest of us will be able to reveal how we overcame issues with our ES's over the years. I restored my own car 20 years ago and I'm still picking up info and tips from other owners to keep her on the road. Post a couple of photos of your car when you have it, the chances are that someone on here will have seen it before and we'd all like to share progress with you. Gold 105 is a lovely colour too, here's a photo of mine to trigger your inspiration! Paul |
