Volvo 850 T5 pressure switch Abs brake master cylinder

My volvo 850 T5 pressure switch, located at the
brake master cylinder has broken it has let all the brake fluid drain out of the master cylinders reservoir. I've been looking on line for a replacement switch but apparently Volvo do not supply this part no more and I can not find one anywhere. can anybody please advise me with a fix for this item please as I need my beloved Volvo on the road it's really doing my nut in not having my car running and not even getting close to a replacement part.

found one for sale on ebay for £30 and bought it asap as its the only one I can find for sale in the whole U.K.
Found another replacement part in the USA for £81 plus shipping and plus import duty aprox $41. This item seems to be a real big problem to the 850 community as nobody has a cheap solution for an on going fault with these cars

Glad you found one. If it was from a place in Ashford then they are still have them as it still listed on ebay.

It looks as if it may also have the part number 9173210, although I have not managed to confirmed the details.

Someone in Australia had the same problem and found that a Ford Falcon power steering switch fitted and worked but they did not say what the part number was.

Over the (many) years that I have been messing around with cars I never had a leaking hydraulic pressure switch until the reverse light switch (which screws into the top of the gearbox) on my V40 started leaking. This was no real problem except that the reverse light did not always work so I replaced it with a brand new one which promptly did the same and leaked gearbox oil!

Hello turboboy, yes the part i bought on ebay was from the same ebayer your talking about down in Ashford £30 including p+p,
I'm just glad I've got the part as it was really hard work trying to source one.
The only thing that bothers me is its not brand new, but we'll see how it goes and if it fails then i'm going to try the Ford one.

I've found that buying used parts through ebay can be a bit of a lottery but at least you are covered for a refund if the item doesn't work.

Last thing I bought was an alternator and it arrived damaged so could not be used. Fortunately, after sending the seller pictures of the damage to both the alternator and the box it came in, they gave me a refund and did not want me to return it.

Was really surprised to read your original message saying that this item was no longer available and after some searching must agree that it appears to be the case. The trick to finding parts is knowing who the original manufacturer was (is) as many components are either already being manufactured for other customers or can be built from existing components.
