could be a bargain for someone .
A couple of points though for the advert : 1 , The ignition blade/immobiliser chip IS available on it's own 8628580 2 , volvo dont sell this in one part you buy either the remote part or the ignition blade part and they fit together to make one .. you need a software download for each part ie two softwares . I hope thats helpful ..

Yes.
You have old style key and the remote as the following picture shows: Someone is selling in the US market for the UPGRADE solution. Remember, it's upgrade not replace. That means you have to sacrifice a set of key/remote to make new one works. You have to move the old remote circuit board to the new one. They will fit but only 4 buttons function. Not 5. Plus, you have to cut off the transpoder chip from the old key and hide in the new remote keyfob. I was trying to upgrade my 2003 Volvo S60 old style key/remote to new style but failed as cutting the transponder from old key isn't that easy and it's very fragile. Volvo dealer wouldn't sell you the new style remote keyfob if your car is a bit older.... You can try this solution. It still for sell in US market. Click Here to see I been to that route and failed... waste money as well. Therefore, I would suggest you to consider bid for the brand new item in UK. No this is certainly not something you can do yourself It needs software which opens the program proceedure and connects to and updates the main Volvo computer in Sweden .. tell me your theory?
Its straightforward to convert the V70/S60 2001-2003 seperate key and remote to the later 2004- combined key just buy a blade and remote and have them programmed in , they use the same immobiliser chip and remote protocol ...

Okay, I just misunderstood your earlier comment "you need a software download for each part ie two softwares". Thanks for correct this.

sorry for that , i assumed everyone knew that software is a dealer or authorised repairer only job , Unless there are some wealthy independents who can justify the cost of the volvo approved Equipment to do it ..

It cost me A LOT to get it.... I wouldn't expect people to pay that much. Otherwise, you just go to Volvo dealer. I put it on the auction web site and let it run to the end so that I could recover the most of my cost. Whatever the final price it. I will sell. No reserve price. |
