Hard ECU reset.
What's the correct way to do a hard ecu reset. Ice seen so many variations of it. Cars gone into limp home mode. No fault codes or smoke and idles smooth. Thanks in advance.

Unplug the battery for half an hour. Not sure if an ECU reset will help though. What are the exact symptoms?

If you gently touch the throttle it pulls away up to about 2000 revs then it feels strangled till nearly 3000. If you floor it it just feels strangled. RAC couldn't find a fault si thought it was in limp mode. Maf was changed a couple of months ago fir a new genuine one but no fault codes and doesn't seem to be leaking air or split pipes. Egr working. Cleaned it when i did maf.

I know it may sound silly, but try unplugging the MAF.
If the vaccuum hoses are not damagged, they might be blocked. Remove each one and blow some air. The turbo should kick in at around 1800rpm, so I am also wondering if there is any damage to the diaphragm of the actuator. Or something as simple as a loose actuator rod And if all else fails, could it be the N75 turbo control solenoid? Mine failed last week and the car was undriveable

I saw your post about that. There's some vacuum at the actuator as it moves when you start the car. Will have to check for blockages.

The actuator doesn't move at all now when the engines running. Ive checked its movement and it moves if you do it by hand freely. Cant feel suction on any of the 3 pipes coming off the n75 valve. Is their a way to test its the valve and not the wiring?

I went into limp and also had turbo problems.
Disconnect battery terminal. Turn on ignition to discharge capacitors in ecu. I then left it for half hour but may not need any delay. Reconnect start up and let idle for a minute. That worked for me. |
