For most practical purposes it is exactly the same as the B230E.

The only difference is smaller bores on the B200. (88mm against 96mm)

For maintainance the only difference is the ignition timing setting. (5 deg BTDC on The B200E)

In the 240 handbook the setting is listed as 10° btdc at 12.5 r/s (750 rpm) with vacuum unit disconnected. Normal idle speed is 900 rpm. Interestingly the B200E has more bhp but less torque than the B230K. The B200E s fuel injected but the B230K uses a Solex CISAC Carburettor.

All the best, Peter

My timing settings were from the owners handbook of my 1990 740 SE
(B200E).

My Haynes manual does indeed give a different setting but I would be more inclined to believe a Volvo publication than a Haynes one !!

The timing may vary between model years.

The ultimate sources of info are the official Volvo "green" manuals
But they are rather pricey.

Also the B200 is fitted with a knock sensor which will automatically
retard the timing if it detects detonation, so no harm should be done if the timing were set slightly wrong.

What mine is set at, I don`t know, I`ve never checked it, (the old, if it ain`t broke, don`t fix it, principle)
