Default Hot ignition key. 940 96 83K mls

Arrived home took out the key and it was hot. Immediate thoughts, the ignition switch has a high resistance connection or contact.
Then I noticed one of the headlight wiper blades was stuct at 45 degrees with one end jammed under one of the base rests.
Freed it, switched on the ignition and it returned to the rest position.

Could the jammed headlight motor have caused high current & heat in the ignition switch? or is it just coincidence and the ignition switch is on the way out ?

If the key is now not getting hot then that was certainly the problem.

All the best, Peter

Yep, it was the stuck headlight wiper arm. Next two 30 min journeys ended with cold ignition keys.
Goes to show how well specified the Volvo wiper motors are to stand a stall current for up to 20 mins without burning out.

1st time in 4 yrs that the wiper arm has got stuck ! Have to keep my eye on that one.

Thanks for the responce Paul.
