760 turbo non working fuel gauge.
Hi All,
Returned from my hols this afternoon. Its raining again so I must be home. Started the 245 and the 760. The hand brake had stuck on on the 760 and the fuel gauge has ceased to work. The clock had also stopped but once corrected it has continued to run for over two hours now. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the fuel gauge working again? The needle doesn't move with the car running and I left it with 1/2 a tank of fuel in it, and it was working then. Something is not letting current flow but what and where? Thanks.

Neil,
Have the connections at the top of the tank sender unit corroded/broken? They are an easy target for the wet and muck.

Yes could be in the tank but can you tap the plastic by the fuel gauge and get it to work that way? If so, the gauge itself is broken.

RE: 760 turbo non working fuel gauge.
Well it was a nice day here and I thought I would spend the afternoon working on the 760 and get the fuel gauge and electric seat working.
But when I turned on the ignition to move the car to work on it the fuel gauge registered and has remained working despite my best endeavours to make it repeat the previous fault. So it has fixed its self but for how long I wonder, as in my experience nothing just fixes its self. However I would love to be proved wrong. On the seat saga I have power to the stop switch (red and yellow wires) but I can't get power to any where else. How does the stop switch work and could this be refuseing to let the power past so that all ceases to work? If so how does the unit come apart to fix it? I have tried to split it but it does not seem to be made to come apart.

Yes, the stop switch does refuse power to the rest of the switches. Yes the unit comes apart and you can simply solder a bypass for the stop switch. Undo the unit by removing the whole seat pocket and then there are two bolts below.

RE: 760 turbo non working fuel gauge.
Hi George,
I have the unit out of the seat houseing but wish to split it and check the stop switch. How does the unit its self come apart?
