See my earlier posts. Your files should match.
Once plugged in, the system will recognise the installation files and ask if you want to proceed. It takes about 75-80 minutes, but will autonatically re-start from where it stopped if you only do short journeys.

Thank you all for your contributions, the system recognized the USB stick and the upload into the car's system has started.
Just goes to show you can't trust anyone these days. Volvo UK tech dept' threw a spanner in the works for me by sending the wrong files on a USB stick despite having the reg' mark, chassis number model number etc.

So you now have first hand experience of Volvo UK.
For many things there is more 'intelligence' on this forum.

And as a bonus you have learned how to format using the most commonly used structure which will let you exchange data between the Apple view of the world and everyone else

Not knocking Apple too much as I also use Macs but prefer PCs

I use a Mac but also occasionally run Windows using Parallels Desktop for just a very few applications which don't run well on OsX. It's great.

Am I being thick and doing something wrong? The file file I'm downloading is "new map" onto a 32 fat fit 32gb USB stick.
Does anything else have to be on the stick?
Many thanks in advance for any help
I have exactly the same problem as Paulirl, I have a 2014 V60 with the 'Globe' button and the map updates I get from the Volvo website don't work. I plug the USB in and it doesn't get recognised at all despite my files looking like the ones in the screenshots. The USB is FAT32 etc.

Any advice?

You need a dealer update first (at a cost) before you can proceed with USB updates. This was included from 2016 onwards so your 2014 will need to visit Volvo dealer initially.

Surely not with the 'globe' symbol?

My Feb 2015 (64) V60 gave no problems last month when I did the maps update. This link to the Volvo support (map download) site suggests that all late 2013 onwards vehicle navigation systems are readily updateable in this way:- https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support.../download-maps

The files need to be at the root level of the device.

Are the files in the root directory, not in a folder one level up, say. i.e. On your computer, when you open the USB device, are all the navigation files immediately visible?

I have no problem using a 32GB USB formatted as FAT32 on my Mac.
