Here's the joke, quite literally. Both Volvo and Garmin use HERE (formerly Navteq). So, if HERE issue an updated basemap, why do Volvo take so long to customise it into the Sensus system, by which time it is already obsolete ?

No idea. Maybe licensing issues or software development issues.

"I can confirm I have spoken to our Accessory and Aftersales Manager here at Volvo Head Office. I have been advised that the next map updated for your Volvo V60 will be published in 2018. Unfortunately, at this time, I do not have any further details of when we will expect this." |

At least I did not pay for this 'out of date' update.

I don't think mine has been updated since about 2013. I might hang on a bit, as I need the software update to enable updates via USB. I've got Co-Pilot on my phone, which sits up on the dash mount anyway.

Unfortunately you have a Nigel, same as me and every other person that was fooled into buying the very expensive satnav option

My Mar 17 XC60 completed it's map update last night, which was the first released since I took delivery.
It took a while to download from the website to a very fast Micro SD Card, about an Hour I believe. It did take 90 mins to update, had to keep going back to the car to restart the process, which it resumed after shutting down. No chance to test it yet, but it was very easy to do. |

I have just tried to install the map update. It says USB unreadable. It is a brand new USB stick. Should I reformat the drive and download again? Or is it call the dealer? Nav says doing updates and won't do anything else.

Reformat fat32, download again - but save it to your PC drive not direct to USB stick .
When download complete copy from PC to USB stick and restart 'upgrade' When completed successfully delete the files from the PC
