Uprating Braking system
Im considering uprating the braking system on my T5R.
To go from the 280mm front discs to the 302mm front discs, appropiate pads all round,Braided brake hoses and if necessary change the brake fluid for a higher grade to suit the upgrade. Has anyone had this work carried out,was there a marked improvement in the braking, what was the cost and any recommendations regarding where the work was carried out ??? Any info much appreciated. Hi John
I was very shocked when I managed to cook my brakes on my T5R. I've driven many cars hard at times and the first time I drove the Mouthy Blonde hard she was smoking! I've (through S W Autos) upgraded to 302mm's with police spec pads. If you go down this route you'll also need different/police spec calliper carriers. I don't remember exactly how much it cost and it was a couple of years ago almost now. I'd send a PM to swautos who's a member on here. He'll be able to give you an idea of price & I don't know where you are in the country? He may be able to supply/fit them?? Good luck & IMO definitely worth upgrading (whichever set-up you choose!)

I will try to get a price/info from SW autos. I live in essex so distance may be a factor. John. |

Hi,
Yes i have done what you mentioned to my 850r, i have: 302mm front discs (originally had 280mm) ferodo ds2500 pads front and rear (very very good pad) goodridge ss brake hoses front and rear put in fresh dot 4 brake fluid (still havent got round to putting in my ate superblue which exceeds dot 5.1) overall, the results are great. better pedal feel and stronger braking force plus zero fade. It finally nice to have brake that you can depend on under any condition. I reckon though changing the brake fluid made one of the biggest differences as the stuff that came out was like glue. regards the police spec pads from swautos, im gonna be given these a go when my ferodo's wear out as they seem to have nothing but good reviews, plus as they get them direct from the manufactor you could buy about 4-5 sets of them for one front set of ferodo ds2500. over on volvo-tech.co.uk i know swauto's where doing a deal on a set of 302's or 280's with police pads. you can see details here: http://www.volvo-tech.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=112 Just to add about the ferodo's, i wouldnt fit them to the back as from my experiences they have warped my rear discs. front are still good though. |

Rotor discs
Has anyone seen those Rotor discs from blue flame that are made to order. I want a different look from behind the wheels for my T5R and wanted to know if anyone have fitted these wavey looking discs and any good or bad reviews.
Thanks Scott |
