I was wondering what effect the urethane bushings have on the steering and ride, compared to the stock rubber?

...then it must have to do with which side of the pond you're on,
The picture looks fine from where I sit.

A pictures worth a thousand words. The rear facing parts of the bar have to have their peaks upwards to clear the steering arm, idler etc as it rises and falls with suspension movement. If you fit it the other way uou'll soon wonder what all the clunking is.
You can also see pictures of the ARB in the "What springs" thread, on Robert's car. Poly is good in this application. It doesn't affect the ride or steering but the roll bar starts to work immediately when roll starts. With rubber there is a small delay as the rubber compresses and the rubber will always be part of the arm movement when, say you go from lock to lock. Poly minimises that and will give the steering a bit more feel. Last edited by Derek UK; Nov 2nd, 2014 at 17:08. Reason: Extra |

My picture showed the bar and links as they were assembled to hang on a wall in my shop,
I did not think it would cause so much serious confusion. I thought humor would clarify things, in the face of what was obvious to me the wrong bar from the beginning... Right about the bar, wrong about the humor. |

Just fitted poly ARB bushes - definitely sharpened up the steering feel, but the real test will be crosswinds. I may not find this out for a couple of weeks, until I go on the motorway.

Spoken to Simon today: a replacement ARB will be delivered on Wednesday. Hopefully I won't have any problems fitting this one.
Thanks to everyone on both sides of the pond for their advice, humour and banter on this matter. (Hope I don't get sent an Australian spec one - the damn things fit upside down, I tells ya!) |

The Australian spec one can be used for the back of the car...
