Default Anti roll/sway bar issue

Following on from my suspension problem thread...

I have tried to fit an uprated anti-roll bar this weekend (supplied by Brookhouse).

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I can't get the thing to fit - the ends of the bar which the drop links fit through seem to be to short. I can not get the drop links to line up no matter what I do. I've tried with the car in the air and on the ground.

If anyone could offer advice I'd appreciate it because I'm at the end of my tether.

Possibilities...

Wrong bar,
Bar upside down,
Drop links ARE too short,
Not your day, try tomorrow.

The bar is symmetrical (i.e. it looks like there is no possibility of installing it upside down) - I have tried it both ways though.

The links were supplied with the kit (with new bushes and washers etc) and are slightly longer than the old ones.

I can only assume it's the right bar as it was sourced from a very reputable supplier over here in the UK.

I've spent all today and yesterday trying to get the cursed thing to fit... every time I close my eyes I can see the underside of my car!

"The bar is symmetrical..."
Do you mean flat?
If you mean it is the same when rotated 180° around the midline i.e. no drop to the arms, see #1...

Sorry, didn't explain myself to well...

My new bar doesn't look like the one in your picture: mine has no drop to the arms when rotated 180 deg as you state.

I'm wondering if I've been sent the wrong one... I've had another look on the Brookhouse website and the bar pictured looks different to mine (hard to tell though as it's pictured in bubble wrap).

Think I'll be making some phone calls on Monday morning as I'm not happy.

If the bar is flat that sounds like it would be a 140 one. Give simon a call and I'm sure he will sort it out for you

The one on the window sill, if fitted like that would be upside down. The bend in the rear facing ends has to have the top upwards to give clearance to the steering arms. i.e hill rather than valley.

The Amazon one leaning up against the box in the Brookhouse picture has the offside, rhd driver's side, on the left of the picture.

Had a look on the skandix site... it does appear that I've been sent a 140 unit - thanks for the advice.

I'll give Simon a bell and hopefully he'll sort it out, as you say.

"My new bar doesn't look like the one in your picture"
Then it won't fit on a car like the one in my yard...

Upside Down in the photo?
RHD vs LHD, no...?

has nothing to do with RHD v LHD as they are the same part. The cranked part is cranked up over where the tie rod is when fitted
