Low brake fluid level
Hi
I have recently bought a 2011 v50 1.6d r design. Yesterday i had to top up the brake fluid as i had the warning light come on the dash. I'm going to get it on a ramp and have a look to see if any leaks. Is there a common fault on these eg slave/master cylinders leaking? I have also noticed in the last couple of days on the odd occasion the clutch pedal does not return fully on its own, i have to put my foot under it and pull it up, not sure if this would be related to the same problem. I do have about a month left on the select warranty so hoping if anything needs doing it will be covered. |

Get it back in to the garage sharpish!
Clutch slave cylinder would be my guess, if it can be sorted under warranty then it could save you some major money.

Just had the vehicle in the air and removed the undertray, no signs whatsoever of any fluid leaks, think i will keep an eye on the level for a bit and see how it goes. Clutch and brake pedal are fine.

I would have a look at the disc pads also - clearly the master cyl level falls when the pistons have to move further out as pads wear. If you top up the master cyl when you have worn pads and then push the caliper pistons back to fit new pads, you run the risk of fluid overflow into the engine bay. Just a thought.

I had this on mine, no sign of fluid but every couple of months the warning light would flash up, ended up a leaking slave cylinder. Had to replace that, clutch and flywheel.
