2004 XC70 D5 awd

Hello.
Today i went out with the family to the dog beach. On a junction i stopped, when it was my turn i accelerate and the engine service MSG came on display ( no engine light or triangle). I pressed the pedal and nothing, slow acceleration
once it got to the 2300 2500 turbo kicks in and it goes. Under that same slow acceleration, close to 2300 turbo kicks and here we go. Once turn off key and back to on....all gone?!

Any explanation???!!!

Many Thanks

Sounds like an egr issue, a guy had similar probs on here recently, the ecu was water damaged and was opening the egr when it should be shut, choking the engine up till egr range around 2300-2500 then woooooft!
Not necessarily saying this is your specific fault, but a good point to investigate, it took hours for the root cause (ecu) to be indentified.

Hi Dave.
Excuse my ignorance, being a VNT problem should happen at all rpm?

If the VNT is stuck in it's "high speed/high boost" mode, then the turbo would be very "laggy" and may well not seem to kick in until higher revs.

Definitely an avenue to look into if the ECM all seems fine.
