Default Irratic startup

Iv noticed over the past few months that my xc70 D5 is a little ropey on startup in the mornings. It's literally for the first few seconds and then it settles.

Could this be a glow plug issue?

Yes but test them to be sure.
Takes about 5 minutes with a multimeter on a D5.

Can they be tested in situ?

Assuming it's a low ohms test?

Yes, pull the electrical connectors, black meter lead on the engine block, red lead on the exposed glow plug top.
