Default backwards is the new way forward

WOOHOO ! I have just accidentally discovered that my new (2002) V70 D5 SE does in fact have reversing sensors fitted. ! , i only found this out by reversing into my drive for a change and being deafened by a load of bleeping noises as i got close to the side gates. Bargain !

Hello, Are there little emitters in the rear bumper? Also, is there anything which reads on the dash when the alarm goes off? Kira

hi Kira , yes there are those little 'coin-dots' along the bumper but i thought they were just blanks. There are no switches or dials on the dash/console that relate to rear sensors so i figured it didn't have them fitted/working. A guy at work suggested that if they are fitted then they will be threal thing and i should try reversing into something (almost LOL.) so when i was leaving work last night i reversed towards the works building ... nothing. so i figured he was wrong. after what happened tonight when i reversed up my drive i think i just didn't reverse close enough to my works building so nothing bleeped. as i didn't know the range, it is obviously only feet whereas i thought it was more like yards .. DOH !

anyway i am a very happy bunny now that i have sensors.

Does that make up for the lack of electric seats Russell? Does it cut the stereo off when the bleeping starts?

Hi Kira. If i've got the radio on while reversing, it cuts the stereo sound off, and "REVERSING AID" is displayed on the stereo.

My dealer fitted a reversing aid which can also be used for towing trailers. It makes a sound but it changes depending on what I'm reversing into. He said it was texture sensitive.
