Rattle underneath, D5 v70 annoying getting worse!
Well I have a rattle, underneath the car, the exhaust centre is broken, and you can get a replacement strap (I believe maybe someone can point in the right direction for me)
Now the occasional knock from the where this is broken is distinctive, but i have new rattle sounds like coming from the beneath the handbrake area, like a loose cable rattling but getting worse everytime I go over a bump, its def not the exhaust this is very different sound. I cannot see anything noticeable loose or astray, any thoughts? before I start getting more frustrated and very annoyed on my regular 2 or 3 hour journeys twice a day! |

would one of these help?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volvo-Exhaust-...item2c556691e6 I bet when the car is on a ramp all will become clear. On my S60 the centre bracket had failed, a repair by welding two bolts to the existing bracket was done for the MOT at the test station, they charged £10 for the job.

Just a suggestion - but if it sounds like a loose cable and from the area of the handbrake - is it worth checking that both sides are being operated by the handbrake. Perhaps one side is jammed and the cable therefore not under tension. (Think I am right in saying twin cables.)

As per fungus - I had my centre bracket welded for not very much money - whilst its up on the ramps they can check the other mounts and look for any additional loose items in the vicinity.

thanks all, will get the car up over the weekend, thanks for idea re handbrake easy enough to check as well. I think my car is just concerned as only done 700 miles this week, i think she does not think i want to spend time with her anymore!
Will drop into Volvo in taunton and get price of bracket as well, I used to be handy with my MIG welder but been a while... Cheers all. |
