I'm in Alton most eve's so only 20 mins to the services for me, other wise you would have to travel to Hook where I'm never usually in.
I'm driving a 940, only lightly modified at the moment. Need to finnish my V40.

If you put the na cams in don't you have to get the pistons machined to fit the longer stems in? I'm rebuilding mine ATM doing the same but I'm porting and polishing my head too in my garage, too the gaskets sizes obviously, see if I can squeeze some more horses out that way too.....

Where would the return fuel line be plumbed into from the fuel rail?
Nice and subtle!

Hey Tommy, Andyp has said that these should go straight in, is it worth getting them machined? I'm a bit new to the finer mods

The return fuel line can be plumbe back to the pump, the rail itself u can also get the na one from a 2.0 s40 and it has the return already on it, I was pretty sure you have to get pistons machined.

The na cams are higher lift thats the point in getting them so the stems would be a few mm longer then standard t4 so that's the reason why they need machining?!?

I've been told that this is not needed, Andyp is running them in his track s40 and didn't mod them.

Heres a thread of new cams.

1997-1999 B4194T/T2 and B4204T/T2 engines have hydraulic lifters on heads.

All those engines uses same cams which limit the power with bigger turbo and make more backpressure.

What you need is cams that have more lift and more duration and without that much overlap.

Solution is 1996-1999 B4204S engine which is x40 2.0i engine.
That engine has max power on 6100rpm unlike our turbos which have max power limited by cams about 5400rpm.

Head is basicly same on N/A and turbos and compression differences are made with different pistons.

That 2.0 engine has most aggressive cams that fit our car from original product line. So you can just bolt on swap those cams to your car. Same head wheel also with 42 teeths has both.

Here are the specs of the cams:

x40 2.0i (1998) B4204S

Insugskam : 250gr Duration o 8,45 i lyft
Avgaskam : 252,6gr Duration o 8,45 i lyft

Overlap 24
Lobe Separation (LS) 114

x40 T4 (1998) B4194T

Insugskam : 242 gr duration o 7,90 i lyft
Avgaskam : 243,5 gr duration o 7,90 i lyft

Overlap 15
Lobe Separation (LS) 114

Those are the specs of my old cams and my new cams. Specs are same on old T5 cars.

My friend installed those cams to my car yesterday and difference quite nice. I gained on my butt dyno on mid and high rpm. Before my car went nice to 5400rpm and now it keeps going to 6200rpm nicely. So power band is now on higher but i did not notice any lag of power on low rpm but sure there is so lack because we dont have VVT system. So what you gain on top you loose on bottom.

Also we have adjustable head wheels on cams and adjustment range is + - 7.5 degrees on both cams. I left the adjustments on original 0, 0 settings.

I paied 350dollars for cams and installation job.

The car behaves now like it should have from factory.

My car goes now with 0.2bar lower boost same times before higher boost.

Here is the original thread from x40nordic.

http://www.x40nordic.com/viewtopic.aspx?tid=281840

Im also dynoing the car after i have swapped phase 2 maf because thats limiting now the power. Then we can compare the real facts and see how much i gained or loosed.
