Nice one. Mine is due end of August. After my recent £700 bill to fix ABS service required it has come on again, along with parking sensor service required,

To make matters worse the engine management light is on, exhaust is making weird noises, it buffers, sucks in a lot of air for no apparent reason and the RPM needle will throw a wobbly and fluctuate between 900 and 2000 rpm without me hitting the accelerator.

I was looking forward to driving her to Blackpool for the Rebellion weekend....

What I did today...Drove Gloria to the garage again and showed a video of the engine and exhaust noises. "That isn't good..." It's all he said as I handed over the keys.

It's getting fixed, new MOT and then I am getting rid of it.

Went to local breakers at Dilton Marsh near Westbury Wilts. They have a 55 plate V70 relatively intact, an XC90 in the same condition and an early V70.
Took the alarm siren off the 55 plate as I have the common problem of alarm going off on the XC70.

Took a chance for a tenner and cut it open when I got home. Perfect inside and would have been ok to fit straight on.

I will replace the batteries though before sealing up.

Result in my book.

That’s the annual oily cuddle done. Changed the front engine mount whilst I was there and discovered that the resting position for the mount is really quite compressed. Jacking the engine up with all other mounts in place isn’t a great idea, and I wasn’t going to undo them all to see which was the most crucial.

Instead, took the weight with the jack and removed that engine mount bracket that sits between the mount and the starter motor. .
Bit of a swine to get the bolts back in so I found a little lever bar forcing the bracket down did the job.

Should be confident towing my mobile shed across Norfolk next weekend now....

Replaced the PCV on my V70 this weekend. I'm assuming it's the original oil box from the factory, and it was gunked up like nothing I've ever seen. Both ports into the engine were completely blocked with solid oil deposits. My engine can breathe again now, and no more smoke coming out of the dipstick or tailpipe!

Default First Volvo

Today I bought my first Volvo.
V50 2.0D 2008
It's in reasonable condition. A few marks and scratches as you would expect
The only thing I can't get to work are the headlight washers which seems a common problem.

Well, Gloria is getting quite comfortable in her new second home....

The ropey-running, exhaust buffering and surging and mis-firing on a cylinder appears to be a dodgy HT lead. I had some input from Shemtek and he was spot on as usual - leads, coils, spark plugs. Thankfully, a dodgy lead.

Unfortunately, I sold the Toyota Rav4, thinking that Gloria would be ok for a couple of days. I had to hire a Vauxhall Corsa for a week for work. It is awful.

This Corsa...you get in it, it drives, you wander around like you don't have a care in the World. It is so dull. I am used to engine management lights coming on every 500 metres and wondering what lights are due to come on next. The Coras is no fun at all - hardly challenging me, wondering if 25 miles down the road if I need to call out the AA....

I've asked garage to put a year MOT on Gloria early. Hopefully, they will have changed over the sensors like they should have done in the first place. Vadis chucked out the error on the parking sensor but they are cheap, apart from the labour taking the front bumper off lol.

She has to go. Gloria, "Meet eBay...." Let's see how much of the £15K I can get back.

Of course, then I see this saffron C70 T5 manual on eBay for bids over £800 and it looks really nice. I slapped myself.

Oh, arranged to pick up a Honda HRV 1.6 Dtec 2016 plate from a dealer in Doncaster. It does 78 miles to the gallon on a run. And it has Sat Nav and stuff and I heard they don't go wrong.

So, flying from Newquay Airport on Thursday to Birmingham - I was going to drive Gloria but she doesn't want any exercise at present - then off to Blackpool to see some Punk bands, off to Doncaster to pick up this Honda. My mate has all my son'd stuff that he will help me load from his pikey van into the Honda.

Then, drive it all down to Cornwall.

Hopefully, Gloria will be fixed by the time I get back on the Sunday. If not, it doesn't matter because the wife has given me her nice 58 plate A3 as a birthday present. She's a keeper. The wife, not the A3. I can get £4K for the Audi and buy that C70 T5.
