I think I have come to the final version now. Is it worth it having a list of photos with the main things to look for when trying to figure out what phase the car is? Here is the finalized draft: Quote:

Looking good now, I would leave it at that as it's beginning to get pretty big - Needs to stay reasonably short so people can remember it all haha.

Buyer's guide has now been finalized and posted. It is at the top of the S/V40 page and has now become a sticky: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=160312
Thanks to all for your contributions, ideas and suggestions

Seems I'm too late to contribute, though all I could add is don't buy my car!

2,600 motorway trip in europe and my average mpg was 35. Did a few stints at 80ish mph but mostly 60-65mph with a few 50mph roadwork sections. This poor economy issue simply wont go away.
Just had my bonnet scratched, persuambly by next doors little girl whilst she was messing with stones but no proof of that. Add that to all the other bodywork/paint issues and the car really is starting to show its age. Seems like the dash is now creaking and the ECC plays up with the A/C having a mind of its own. Keeps turning on/off and the fan goes from full on to full off intermitantly. If I leave the air direction on windscreen/feet then the windscreen msit slightly so the recirc may be broke but I dont get the clicking noise. Think my CV joints are now due as they click on full lock. Starting to be a serious money pit if I want to keep it. Think in another 15,000 miles/1 year when belts and gearbox fluid are due it will definately be replaced, hopefully by a decent V70 D5. |
