Default s40 2003 clutch kit

Dear Friends

i have a s40 2003 model 1800 cc

i am at 105.000 km

at 40.000 km i change the clutch kit as the pedal was extremely hard and i couldnt stand it .my leg was in pain.

i change it again at 70.000 for same reason.only for hard petal.

in both changes the kit was original volvo including the internal pump .

now i am driving and have this problem again.very very hard petal.other driver who saw my car told me that is very hard indeed.

i have recently change also the external pump .

i need technical advice about this.

does other owners of same car have same problems?

does anyone know if the volvo buys the kit from sachs ?

does anyone know if the clutch kit is same with ford mondeo ?

(the local volvo spare parts channel charge 450 euro for original volvo clutch kit

when for ford mondeo same kit they charge 300 euro )

any suggestion to avoid change again the kit?

looking forward for any answers

kind regards

Dimitris

First of all, do you have the 1.8 volvo engine or the 1.8i GDI Mitsubishi engine?

Volvos have slightly harder clutch pedals comparing to other cars, but from my experience with the petrol S40 V40 cars the balance is right. My dad's BMW clutch goes to the floor with the slightest touch. However the clutch pedal on my 1.9D S40 is a lot harder but that is due to the low down torque of the diesel engine.

You shouldn't have to change the clutch so often as they should easily last 100,000 miles or 160,000km or more

Have you tried bleeding the clutch system as old fluid and crap in it might have partially blocked the holes through which the fluid moves in

The only other thing I can think off is the master cylinder.
