I think it all comes down to personal taste.I wanted something completely different for the 240 really,I don't want to mess the 740 up as I like it the way it is.Like I said earlier I would prefer the subtle fit of the 960 ones which are a tight close fit,More like a LIP.
However I still have the opertunity to make a 240 whatever I want.I have a fixer just waiting to be modded. It may never happen mind.
I got some lower front spoiler thingies real cheap and tried them in several places.
And Brodgar it wont be a problem sanding it down as it would need spraying anyway. And possibly cutting. As TC said he can "Make them"so just a case of learning how top use fibreglass and resins etc.

Heres a few pics the first two are taken at a bkv national several years ago and the others of trying the lower trims on my 240.Pushed up close so they hardly are noticed looked quite good I think. The bits sticking down to the ground are foam pipe wrap to hold them up Lol.
Regards Brian.

Well the update is here.
I went and got two spoilers,One was the old fitting and one the new type.Niether were glued on?
I think with a small amount of cutting and sanding they will fit very well.I will have to make some brackets up myself though but shouldn't be to hard.

The pictures of it on my 740 aren't great but you can get the overall affect it will have.
My wife was stood by close to catch it each time the whitetack came away. The pictures took a while as it just wouldn't stick either on my car or the spoiler.

It needs to be a bit further forward so cutting underneath to make it a sharper angle. The original shape of the V70 is very rounded. It should fit snugger as well. The white tack holds it up a bit high.

So heres my first trial(when it stayed put long enough).
The scruffy silver one will be tried against my 240 estate.
Regards Brian.

Ps they are very lite and flimsy,Hollow which suprised me.

Picture TEN you can see it needs cutting in squarer.

Hi thanks john.I reckon it will be a fairly simple cut job.Laney you already have a spoiler on the 940 so having one on the 760 is greedy Lol.I should think finding one to fit the boot on your 760 wouldn't be to hard unless your looking for genuine of coarse,
I did a quick trial fit on my 240 with the grubby looking V70 spoiler,It's silver.
It looks like being a big job.I may as well try fitting it as I have it especially if I fit it to the K reg.
I'm not sure it would look right iether.

On these pictures it's sitting very high as it sits on top of the hinges. It also cannot go any further forward or it will hit the roof when the tailgate is fully open.

By cutting the lower part of the spoiler it will sit down.As in the top of the hinge resting on the underside of the top inner.

Even I'm confused(and tired).

Cut Fill and clamp.

Gives you some idea of the different widths of each car though. It was being held by double sided tape but wasn't really sticking which is why it tilts down at the back.

Regards Brian.

Personally, I don't think that one suits the 240 - a bit too deep and modern looking in my opinion.

Nick_ovlov got as far as test fitting a 960/V90 rear spoiler on his 240 estate; it looked good:

That spoiler ^^ is now at my house and will go onto my 240 when I get round to it!

"Bodgefitting" spoilers (I love the word!) is great fun... my 164 already has a modified repro 70's Capri RS2600 front one fitted

I look forward to seeing your installation finished. (I bet you'll beat my 240 fitment even though I've had it for a year!)

John

Hi John firstly I would like to compliment you on the progress so far with your car.I do check it out but don't comment as I ramble to much.
That front spoiler looks ok and it just adds a little but not to much to it's look.
Subtlety isn't easy to achieve. But I do like people who try something new.Anyone can go buy a brand new bit or an eggcrate grill. You made yours as I imagine they never exhisted for your model. It looks amazing by the way.And I can imagine the time it took to think it through and gather just the right looking bits.Part of the fun is using odds and ends to make something unique.

Now that spoiler held onto yours is what I originally wanted for the 240 but didn't realise it would be such a good fit.
I'm thinking the V70 one may not look right on the 240 but sadly haven't another car to fit it on so may as well give it a go.It does look a bit to modern .

As for finishing my projects???
Hardly ever get started let alone finished.I have a head full of ideas but sadly with no facilities at all I'm stuffed.Only so much you can do in a cold windy field.

Thanks Brian.
