V70: General Looking to buy V70

The cheapest P3 V70 under 90k miles on Autotrader at the moment is £4695, there are a few around the £5k mark, and then they go up from there. Even with the potential service items, I'd say it's a good price, plus you know the car and you don't have to travel and then be disappointed etc

There are loads of 08/09/10/11 around the £3k mark, admittedly with mileages over 90k (100k/110k) however this is not helping the OP make a good choice with what to offer.

I paid £4500 for my 2009 P3 V70 with 82k nearly 3 years ago!

With all due respect, neither is saying that a car with 78,000 miles on a 2008 plate is only worth £2k, particularly as there's cars for sale with higher mileage for the same price as what he was thinking of offering.

If my car was up for sale & you offered me a £1,000 less than what it was worth or what it was up for even, I know what I'd tell you.

At the end of the day, its up to the OP what he pays for the car. If he likes it enough, then he'll buy it. £3,500 for a V70 with 78,000 miles is reasonable, particularly as the V70's seem to hold their value quite well second hand. The ones that you pay the same figure for with higher mileage probably need some tlc too, so its swings & roundabouts as they say.

Having said that you should approach the seller with a counter offer based on the need to spend money to replace and repair problems caused by the storage, I'd like to clarify that I do think the car is worth considering but that you shouldn't overlook the fact that very long term storage can produce problems that will cost some money and that this aspect is worth putting into the scales to balance the pitch that the car is worth more because it hasn't been used for years. At the end of the day the seller might prefer to sell the car to someone who didn't know the liabilities that can be caused by storage and would take his "not used for years" pitch and pay a higher price and then have to consider the expenses long after the deal was closed. At least you do know the only abuses the car has suffered are from non use and not from negligent use!
