Ah, but the Birch Light is bland enough to be like a grey, and to be accurate silver is a form of grey too. (Although the Electric Silver stood out!)
The Denim Blue is okay - but not exactly a stand-out clear blue is it.

Instead of "Pine Grey" - a shade I'm sure no-one had thought of before, why didn't Volvo go for a pine-green, and make it a green shade?

I completely understand that choice of colour is a very subjective thing, but the range of colours does seem to highlight Volvo's emphasis on fleet or company buyers (black white and grey) where colour isn't as much of a consideration as getting a car for free or at reduced cost is.

Colour preference is a very personal thing but Maple Brown reminds me of some of the terrible fashion choices I made in the 1970's.

And I vaguely remember Austin Allegros being available in a similar colour...

That brown is hideous.

Probably be a bargain on the second hand market though, if you budget having it wrapped.

I can almost see it working on an XC40 with a black roof, but not on an XC90. If you search Auto Trader for XC19 since 2017 you get about 1000 results, stick in the keyword maple and you get nothing!

I do wonder Volvo UKs logic in selecting / keeping it when it must be such an unpopular colour. Fine if there were 10s of colour choices available, but not when you restricted to 10-12!

Just been considering an XC40 R-D pro for my wife and with substantial discounts managed to get everything on it with the striking Bursting Blue paint under the 40k threshold .... other than a heated steering wheel. So considered changing the paint to Thunder Grey to give us enough wiggle room to include the heated wheel ..... until we saw one at the local dealers. OMG it's hideous! Colours are most definitely not Volvo's strong point!

Unfortunately if you are trying to avoid the extra VED taxation that kicks in at £40k I think you will find that this is based on the published list price of car + extras, before any discounts. It's not based on the actual price you pay..
