Default "SAFE" access to V70 amplifier under seat ?

Stuck my head under seat today to see which amp i have .
Looks like the small offset one with the "arms" .

Now this is going to have to go !

Does anyone know if the larger 4x100watt version will fit under the seat ?

And what is the best and safest method to remove the seat or at least swing it back to allow far better access. I want to check the connections etc and place about with amp options

without needing 1/2 the car re coded and the airbags deploying etc !!

Luke

Yes the larger one will fit.

To check you'll need to undo the four bolts that hold the seat to the floor, and then pivot the seat back toward the rear seat giving you access from the front door. There is enough slack in the airbag cabling to allow you to do this. You can get a good peek underneath by doing it this way.

If you go ahead and fit it, just disconnect the battery, disconnect the airbag, and pull the whole seat out (leaving the seat belt atttached) as it will give you more room to work.

Where people go wrong is by leaving the battery attached, or fitting different seats with unknown wiring issues.

Cheers

Looking at the amp it is set offset with what looks like a metal cable guide over it ??

Having trolled ebay etc .I can only find the more regular sized Alpine amp (4x100watts) that would be at least 2.5 times larger ? or is the v70 amp a special series that both versions is offset under the seat ?

Thanks

Luke

They should be pretty similar in size and shape. See this link for the 200w version-

The biggest amp you can get that is a stock replacement i.e. that triangular shape amp like the one shown in that link, is 300w or 4 x 75w which came in the premium dolby systems with 13 speakers.
