That is a good point actually as most will ask if the car has the factory alarm fitted etc.

Even if there's no explicit questions on alarms, it'll still get caught by the inevitable "any modifications?" clause.

Best get a replacement, then.
Indeed , and at least you will know if someone has broken a window outside , No one else takes any notice of sirens but you will . The siren will need a software from the dealer ..

Siren is plug and play, no software should be needed.

Changed mine for a new one with no problems.

I don't think my model/year has any software requirements in that respect, thank god. I was able to remove the siren without any complaint from the main brain.

Hello,
I'm very new to this forum and thanks to all for your posts, so much information !

I have the same trouble with fuse 26 blowing immediately, I disconnected all ECC but it still does. The strange thing is that I had the siren disconnected a few years ago but the dealer told me this morning that it was only "software" disconnected.

It seems to me that I should physically remove the siren, is it possible to do it by myself or do I have to go to a dealer ?

My car is a XC70 from 2008 3.2

Thank you !

Yes, it's the older cars that have this use of the fuses. Mine from 2012 is different.

Good evening,

I tried to locate the siren module on my XC70 3.2 from 2008, but I couldn't !
I removed the Wheel Arch Liner on passenger and driver sides, but couldn't see any siren module. Could you help me find it ?

Thank you !

It should be accessible by either removing the windscreen wiper cowl (requires a windscreen wiper arm puller tool) or on mine at least, you can access it by removing the battery box and it is just inside the bulkhead behind where the battery goes

Thank you so much to all for your help, I did physically remove the alarm siren on my XC70 3.2 2008 and then I could replace the fuse 26 without blowing it right away. Since 2 days I have my clim+radio+everything in the center console working again, so happy!
