Wheels/balancing/suspension
My cars just passed it's MOT. One of the repairs was a new track rod end. The MOT centre said it had been tracked. I thought that may solve the pull to the left the car has always had since I've had it. However it's not made it any better.
I'm wondering what the best route is to solving the pull is? I'm looking at getting 4 new tyres and then getting it all laser tracked but I'd be a little miffed it I did that and it still pulled to the left and I had to replace suspension parts etc and get it tracked again. Is there any self checks I can do to rule anything out? Any checks on the suspension I could make? Thanks |

What tyres have you currently got on? Do they match? Can you swap them around?

As you have said it is probably the tyres that are causing the problem. Whilst they may all be the same size they could have different rolling radius or just be poor tyres.
4 wheel alignment is much more than tracking. Do some research to find a garage near to you that uses Hunter equipment and check that they know how to use it. A good indication is if you have to book in advance rather than just turn up.

In my opinion/experience, the P3 V70 is quite sensitive to tyres. I had a full set of Champiro tyres which were excellent for grip but made the car drift left. I had everything checked out, by Volvo, including 4 wheel alignment, new trailing arm bushes etc, but no change. This was all under warranty when the car was only couple of years old and as I've owned it from new I knew it had never been bashed or mis-treated.
It all came good when it came to replacing the tyres. Nokians ever since and it's been straight as a die. I think the critical aspect is the tyre wall. With softer walls the car has no or little tendency to tramline. Harder/stiffer wall tyres are less forgiving. I've concluded that cheaper tyres are more prone to inconsistencies in the tyre walls, maybe resulting in the wall on one side of a tyre being stiffer than the other, meaning the tyre sags slightly on one side. I feel this is enough to make a P3 V70 drift. However, whether I'm right or wrong, I would always recommend quality tyres with all 4 corners matching. |

Well Costco are doing michellin legacy's for £88 a corner and also £100 off if you have 4.
£250 all round including fitting and VAT. Seems a decent price. As soon as I get new tyres I'm immediately taking it for a full tracking and allignment |

No! Run the tyres for 200 miles first. See if it makes a difference, THEN get tracking done.

Tyres booked in for Weds. Gone for 4 Goodyear efficient grip performance.
I'll run them for a few hundred miles and then get tracking all round booked in. Hopefully the drive will improve |
