For few reasons, not necessarily in importance order:
Simultaneous music playback and charging will result in ugly alternator whine, multiplied by secondary whine from impulse USB charger. Ordinary audio jack causes songs to skip- phone recognizes it as "next" button pressed on headphones. Would have to cut solder and whatnot headphones set to make it work.. Headphones mic is designed to pick up speech from about 15cm. Having it on rearview mirror.. Pointless, really. And so on, and such like. With Bluetooth module living under armrest I also have play/pause/next/previous buttons right under fingertips..

That sound came back today. With radio off.
I think its the same speaker that goes "bing bing bing" when I won't put seatbelt on. I think I maybe, just maybe I've found some kind of trigger? Maybe, as as for now I did not succeed in getting that sound on purpose. What happened: I filled up. Paid, got back into the car, started engine, reversed from pump (crowdy there today), put in D, moved maybe 2 metres and I remembered to erase trip counters. So I reset T1, it did show nice 0.0, tried switching to T2, unable to do so. Decided to leave it for later. Moved a meter maybe, and the sound came in. And then I looked at T1. It was displaying 79.6 just like before I reset it. I made it to compressor and tried to repeat process, but this time I was able to reset both counters and they stayed reset. Would it be one of symptoms of failing DIM? Any idea much appreciated. In the meantime , I'm on London-Coventry-London run, gotta pick up some wheels. If you see silver P2 V70, reg starting OU52, with big GB sticker bottom left of rear glass.. Don't overtake

I had same issue but it seemed to happen at random. It bugged me enough to consider replacing the headunit with an aftermarket jobby, until it stopped doing it just as sudden as it started.
I'm pretty sure I read another thread on this same issue and as I recall that was never resolved either. I'll see if I can find the thread. Edit* This thread may give a little more info - https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=203349
