This is my 4th Volvo, and probably the best to drive, that is when its going. The main dealers see me as a cash cow and are pretty poor at fault finding, Volvo UK and Volvo Sweden keep referring me back to the main dealers and are unwilling to offer any help or suggestions as to the possible cause of the problems. It's a bit like a computer it just keeps crashing not as in a road crash but just throws up a load of faults and stops, so the jury's out about buying another one at present.

Cant see me moving house anytime soon so due to almost 8 months of dealership incompetence. See my experience with two of my nearest dealers here https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=279060

ABSOLUTELY NOT

Default ex VW driver

Just wanted to say I have driven VW's since 2003, three weeks ago purchased my first Volvo 2016 S60 D4(190)Business edition and so far, loving it, way better handling in the poor weather we have been having than my previous VW's
(2000 passat se, 2006 passat sport, 2011 passat cc, 2013 cc gt), the build quality seems good.(definitely better than the CC).

Yes definitely, had 5 in the past, starting with a brand new 1989 744 GL Tdi and now have a very low mileage S80 D5 SE Lux, but I wouldn’t buy a new one, I don’t like the design of the current Volvo range, but then I don’t like the design of any of the current new cars on the market at the moment..

had the car just over a month now, my last vw had been back to the main dealers three times by now, very relaxed drive, had towbar fitted at main dealers, definitely better service provided than I was receiving at vw.

I've been away from the brand for 7 years (and away from this site since 2009!!) and just calling by, but would I buy another? I'm very happy with my Land Rovers and Range Rover since and have no intention of moving away, but the new V90 certainly looks very nice and I'd certainly look at one if I had to move back to an estate car.

On my third Volvo, had 2 xc90's currently running around in a xc70. Waiting for someone to take the nosedive on a v90 cross country and probably go for one of them next. If the good lady will let me would like to get a c70 as well, fun weekend motor.. So I guess yep, I would buy another Volvo, or 2.

Just thinking about this some more, there is one thing about Volvo that would stop me coming back and that’s the standard warranty cover. I drive somewhere between around 35,000 and 40,000 miles a year in a car that’s not a company car. With a Land Rover, they will cover me for the full 36 months, with no mileage restriction. With the Volvo, I’d be on my own from the 18-21 month point.

It’s good for the low mileage, private (or retired) user but, by the manufacturer’s own admission, it’s not built (and then backed by them) for those that use it for their livelihoods.
