I looked at Autoaid and thought oh yes but they only cover small trailers which equals up to 3m in length. Rules me out so renewed with Green Flag at just under £50 with uk recovery.

Breakdown cover recommendations.
Just to update:-
Not wanting to go with a pay-and-reclaim cover, I opted for Green Flag who provided cover for roadside and recovery, for my wife and myself for any car we are in, for a premium of just over £80 ( over the phone was cheaper than doing it on line). The AA bless them wanted £166 for the same level of cover, despite my bank offering their roadside assistance element 'free'! Yes OK, I could have updated my bank account to get recovery as well, if I paid a monthly bank charge of £17! = £204 out of my account. What's free about that!? Were the AA prepared to reduce the premium? Don't know - after waiting 2 X 10mins+ to be connected to their Renewals section, I just gave up. Thanks to everyone who offered information, and perhaps this update may be useful to someone else. Kind regards, Austin. |

Which particular pay-and-reclaim company?
None in particular. I just didn't want to go with that principle, as I said in my original post. Do doubt fine if that method is what is wanted, but it's just I don't want to do it that way. Many thanks to you all. |

Auto Aid are excellent value for money, especially now the "pay and claim back" policy has been ditched....the price check on moneysavingexpert website is a good point by point comparison.

Indeed, I have nothing but praise for them, hence my suggestion earlier thread, and cheap as chips - remarkably so.

Many thanks for pointing out that Auto-aid are no longer a pay-and-reclaim organisation.
If Ihad known that, I would have gone with them. As far as I can see, you have to go through into the Buy it detail page to see their statement that they no longer operate by you paying. For the likes of me with my prior knowledge of them as they were, I think it would be well worth them amending their website homepage to clearly state that - not hidden on page two. I'm sure they would do far more business if they did. Will certainly give them a try next year. Many thanks again. |
