How to check Drop Links
Hi all.
Probably a stoopid question, but it's a long time since I've done drop links (3 cars ago!) I've got a rattle on the front, both corners. Only when going over bumps. Sounds like a bolt rattling round in a metal bucket. From memory, with the car on the ground, steering on full lock so I can reach the drop link, I shouldn't be able to wiggle it by hand. Is that right? I can move them quite easily. They don't "look" bad, but I figure they probably need changing.

Don't the drop links have a rubber bush in them ?
Visual inspection has always been enough to persuade me it's time to change drop links, by the time you can hear them there's usually no bush left. Paul. |

Two bolts, take it off and have a feel. It should be tight not sloppy.

Thanks.
I've only had a good look at the offside, but the rubber is ok. But, then, it was last time I knackered links. I was hoping to diagnose before removing as I know they can be a pain to get off. They wiggle quite easily on the car, under stress, so I'm pretty sure they're shot.
